6. Hilde And Miles
The Episode: "The Calm Before"
How It Happened: While on their way to the fair, Hilde and Miles were ambushed and murdered by the Whisperers. Miles' face was skinned off to be worn as a new mask and Hilde was scalped, with Alpha using her hair (and clothing) to infiltrate the fair as "Debra." All in all, it was a pretty nasty way to go.
Why It's On This List: The opening of "The Calm Before" felt structured like a short film, introducing the couple years prior as they survived in the wild, discovered the Hilltop, and became happy members of the community.
It was an effective couple of minutes that managed to endear the audience to these minor characters incredibly quickly, before bringing their story to a shocking, depressing end.
