The Walking Dead: 10 Great Moments When The Show Ignored The Comic

1. Sophia Exits The Barn

As much as Carol was changed drastically for television, her daughter Sophia went through similar alterations. The comic version of Sophia was put into a slightly awkward adolescent relationship with Carl, though the two have seen better days recently. She was even adopted by Glenn and Maggie after her mother's suicide. Sophia was prone to simply erasing bad memories from her mind, even seeming to forget her biological parents completely. She's an interesting character, and is one of the few from the first several issues of the comic to still be alive. On television, Sophia was reinvented into a much more introverted young girl. While she was never given much to say or do in the first season, the first half of the second season revolves almost entirely around the group searching for her. Having been separated from the group during the chaos of a herd passing through, Sophia became a focal point of the second season. In season two's "Pretty Much Dead Already", they discovered the horrifying truth that Sophia had been inside the barn full of walkers that Glenn discovered. It was the most shocking moment the series had seen to date, and perhaps of all time. The TV show eventually gave Carol one of Sophia's traits, of almost wiping the memories of their deceased loved ones away. Sophia's death was a major turning point for the Grimes crew, sacrificing a symbolic part of the group that they might never get back. It created a strong sense of innate despair throughout the rest of the season, and was in stark contrast to her comic book counterpart. It was a moment that will live in time. And here's where you get your turn. Did I miss a comic alteration that you preferred in the TV series? Sound off and let's hear it!
