1. Carol
The greatest anti-hero in The Walking Dead is Carol. Everybody loves Rick, whereas Carol is a far more divisive character as her actions have been the murkiest of all within the main group. First she burned Karen and David to ensure that the virus did not spread and infect the prison, while she also shot young Lizzie in order to protect Judith, after the child stabbed her own sister Mika so she could come back as a walker. In Season 5, Carol kept her hands relatively clean, though she ominously threatened Jessie's son Sam if he spoke about how she'd smuggled weapons out of their cache. In all three instances, plus numerous more immensely difficult situations involving Carol, she made brutal decisions that were all done for the good of the group. If she hadn't stepped into any of those situations, the prison could have been infected, baby Judith could've been killed, and the group would've been exiled from Alexandria...or worse. Carol is shameless, and willing to do anything to ensure the group's survival which involves getting her hands dirty and putting her motherly face back on to banish any suspicions. She's a true anti-hero of The Walking Dead.
