The Walking Dead 5.3 Review - 5 Talking Points From "Four Walls And A Roof"
4. I Always Lock The Doors
The reveal of Father Gabriels backstory, explaining his guilt-ridden attitude was not much of a surprise at all, seeing as how the scribblings on the outside of the church and his impressive supply of canned foods hinted at the fact that not all was as it seemed with the man of the cloth. But at least now we have some context on the man and can get a better handle on him. This is a man of faith, a pacifist by nature, whos surrounded by men and women who have seen and done the most horrible things imaginable, and more than once hes cast a judging eye upon his church guests. Now that Rick and company know that Father Gabriel is not without sin himself, they can dismiss his hypocritical judgments, much in the same way Maggie did with her titular comment about the church being just four walls and a roof. Gabriel hasnt been presented as a terribly endearing character thus far, so hes either going to have to do something soon to redeem himself, or fans wont mind when he meets a grisly end at the undead hands of some walkers.
