How It Happened: During the medical supply run Otis and Shane had set out on, the sheer number of walkers they encountered, their dwindling bullet count, and the fact they were both slowed down pushed Shane into making a terrible choice. The former cop shot Otis in the leg and left him behind - alive and helpless - to distract the walkers bearing down on them long enough for he himself to get away.

Why It Was Great: Shane's murder of Otis marked a major turning point for the character, who only proceeded to spiral out of control throughout the second season.
