Though he's somewhat insignificant within the pages of Kirkman's comic in the grand scheme of things, there was speculation among fans that he might appear in the season finale due to the religious imagery being thrown about. Although that didn't happen, it's highly likely that Father Gabriel will make his way into season five at some point. His nearly antagonistic relationship with Rick and the gang lead to some very interesting scenes, and could be used to great effect in the tv series. As a dedicated man of God, Father Gabriel could be used as a new, slightly more hostile version of Hershel. He was often against the brutality of Rick's group, and even tried to have them kicked out of the Alexandria Safe-Zone. This sense of dissension would add some interesting drama into the season, and create a nice group of sub-stories that could spin out. Imagine Father Gabriel trading barbs with Carol over her actions against Karen and David. Or going toe to toe with Rick due to the brutality he and his crew have adopted. It would definitely help to cast an interesting shade over our heroes, and let the audience in on an outsiders perspective of them, all while forming their own opinions.
