The Walking Dead Season 5: 7 Things To Expect

3. A Bigger Death Toll

In one of the more controversial moves of this season, the prison crew was scattered into several sub-groups. It was a calculated move, and allowed the writers to focus on a certain group within each episode. It created an almost comic book feeling, and enabled them to tell some great stories. Some loved it, and others were against it for how long it kept the group apart. They have finally been reunited, but the endgame of this resulted in a cast that is somewhat bloated now. And it's difficult to service the roughly fourteen characters hanging around right now. One solution to that. Mass killings. It's certain that when season five of the Walking Dead rolls around, there might be a sense of fear of fan favorites being killed off. And multiple ones at that. It may not be easy to hear, but I absolutely expect the early stages of season five to feature numerous characters being bumped off to freshen things up and trim the cast down a bit. An obvious choice is either Maggie or Glenn, considering the ominous burning of the guard tower picture during this past season. Other potential contenders could be Bob or even Sasha. Either way you look at it, the Walking Dead crew can't seem to go too long without feeling like a shocking main character death might be necessary. And we all know how we felt when poor Hershel was killed. His death had a sense of weight to it, and when you buy in to be a part of a show like the Walking Dead, you are guaranteed to have your heart broken every once in a while when a fan favorite bites the dust. And I fear season five may have the biggest sense of loss we've felt yet.
