The Walking Dead: 8 Dumbest Moments In Rick's Last Episode

7. Rick Washing Up Right Next To Anne

The Walking Dead Rick
AMC

While Rick blowing himself up when he didn't need to is pretty bad, it has nothing on him showing up next to Anne just as she's about to escape in a helicopter. From a pure narrative perspective it's a huge leap having Rick survive his wounds, an explosion, the violent rapids of the river and then somehow make it safely to dry land, but the timing of the helicopter's arrival is also incredibly convenient, to say the least.

Its not quite a plot hole, but it's certainly contrived. On a deeper level this resolution is so infuriating because it's such a Walking Dead thing to do, though. The show absolutely loves manipulating its audience while not actually following through on their threats. The entire episode acts as the close of Rick's arc, bringing him full circle, revisiting old friends and having him come to terms with his death only for him to... not die.

It stinks of the execs totally bottling it at the last minute, trying to have their big death without losing the actor that has been a major part of the show's success since the beginning.
