The Walking Dead Season 11 Review: 3 Ups & 7 Downs From "Out Of The Ashes"

During the episode, Aaron, Carol, Jerry and Lydia venture into the burnt-up Hilltop colony to look for supplies, and whilst they're there they come across a lone Whisperer left alive following the fall of Alpha and Beta.

This leads Aaron and Jerry to torture him for information regarding the Whisperers and whether they're still a threat to Alexandria, a sequence which in essence acts as a blunt-force reminder of how angry and bitter Aaron has become of late.

Though it makes for an affecting spectacle to see what's become of the Hilltop, the decision to reintroduce remnants of the Whisperers feels like little more than nostalgic filler, highlighting the show's frequent issue with not letting the past be past.
