6. Timescale
Often one of the most difficult aspects of a show is getting across the idea of time to the audience. Lord of the Rings, for example is 11 or so hours of footage of one adventure spanning several years. The Walking Dead doesn't particularly offer many clues as to how much time passes during seasons. We don't really know which year TWD is set in, nor do we have a true timescale for any of the seasons so far, though Season 6 is extremely tight compared to previous runs. Each episode has referenced time, time and time again, from character dialogue, to the overlapping of each episode, and the timer during the massacre episode showed that the whole ordeal was over in the time it took to cook a casserole. The season has all taken place inside half a day so far, plus flashbacks.
