The Walking Dead Season 7: 3 Ups & 6 Downs From 'Swear'
3. The Inconsistent Saviours
The Oceansiders mention that they were forced out of their previous settlement by another group, who also killed all their men. Shock, it turns out that group was the Saviours.
While it's believable that the Oceansiders came into conflict with the Saviours - because they're apparently everywhere, with an endless reach and God knows how many members - it's what they've actually done that seems off. Killing every male over the age of 10? Really?
Not that they aren't a sadistic bunch, but that doesn't tally with how we've seen them operate against Alexandria, the Hilltop, or the Kingdom. There, the focus is on taking useable goods, the weapons, and breaking the strong men. Here, they've seemingly left the weapons - unless the Oceansiders just happened to find that cache of guns upon reaching the new location, which seems a bit unlikely - and killed the men, which is a reversal of what else we've seen. Why did they do this? If that's how they operated here, why not kill Rick and Daryl and so on?
