The Walking Dead Season 7: 6 Things That Could Go Wrong For Rick
2. Ezekiel Turns On Alexandria
Ezekiel, his tiger and his kingdom were within reach when we rejoined the Alexandrians. Rick's rock in the road didn't move the King though, and they left without the support of The Kingdom.
Ezekiel made it clear that he didn't want to spare any lives for Rick's cause, despite Richard's protests. A rift is appearing in his inner circle and Morgan is becoming his closest confidante. Morgan is looking for peace, not war and his influence on Ezekiel swayed the King’s answer to Rick’s call for battle.
The Saviours have not entered the walls of the Kingdom but after their last meeting with Ezekiel and Richard that could be about to change. Richard is hell-bent on starting a war with the Saviours, even at the expense of Carol. His actions could make the Saviours descend on the Kingdom and force Ezekiel's hand into becoming part of the war.
When the Saviours arrive and see what The Kingdom has to offer, they will want more. The Kingdom is strong and its people seem to be fighting fit, so Negan might want to renegotiate their contract.
If given a choice Ezekiel's unwillingness to fight against them could mean he finds himself overtaken by the Saviours, choosing a new deal with Negan instead of losing any more of his people. This shift could cause him to fall back and inadvertently become a soldier of Negan, as The Kingdom gets overtaken by the Saviours as a defence against Rick's group.
This would be bad for Rick, as although Ezekiel didn’t join his fight they didn’t part as enemies. Having The Kingdom against him could be something that Rick doesn’t foresee, dashing his plans as they about to be executed.
