The Walking Dead Season 8: 9 Things We Learned From SDCC 2017

1. It Looks Fun Again

Based solely on the trailer anyway - and it might have something to do with the excellent use of The Dropkick Murphys - Season 8 looks like a lot of fun. That's something that was largely missing from Season 7, which got very bleak as it broke Rick down and Negan didn't land as well as intended, and is definitely a positive move for the show.

It looks like things will be moving faster, with more action and levity, and that lightness is important. Season 7 wasn't so much dark as it was utterly miserable, but Season 8 looks like it's stepping into the light: Daryl is blowing sh*t up, people are actually smiling, Jerry's making jokes (which, standard, to be fair), and Rick is even proclaiming they've already won. That's a big change from Season 7, and a very welcome one.
