The Walking Dead Season 8: 9 Things We Learned From SDCC 2017
4. The Different Groups
After Season 7 focused on a number of very distinct communities, visiting each one in turn, Season 8 will see a more cohesive unit. Everyone is on the same page now, united against the Saviours and ready to fight.
Obviously, however, the show still needs to break up its characters, and it looks like it's found a new way of doing that. As we can spot in the trailer, the characters are wearing different coloured armbands (not pictured here, but Maggie's is green).
That suggests that the war is being colour co-ordinated, splitting people off into different groups based on their skills or where they're most needed (Daryl, for example, is riding around on his motorbike and blowing sh*t up, which seems like a perfect fit really).
It's a good way of dividing up its cast for smaller chunks of time, and will hopefully lead to some interesting character dynamics and relationships, without meaning we have whole episodes solely devoted to one character or location. It's also a glimpse at the strategy Rick and co are adopting, which we hear a little more of from Aaron, who says: "We pin them in and it takes care of itself. That's the plan."
Obviously that just refers to one attack, but it does sound like one of the early assaults from the comics, which would mean an attack directly on the Sanctuary and a whole lot of walkers.
