The Walking Dead Season 9: 10 Reasons To Actually Be Excited

Rick Grimes isn’t the only major character we’re bidding a bittersweet farewell to in Season 9. Lauren Cohan has nabbed herself a new job on ABC’s forthcoming action-comedy Whiskey Cavalier which means Maggie will soon be leaving too – within the first six episodes to be precise.

Both Cohan and Angela Kang have hinted it may be a soft exit so we could see Maggie temporarily relocated for some time to return at a later date but there’s always the chance it could be a more final goodbye. As in she dies.

In the meantime, we can expect some juicy storylines are in store for Maggie. She’s now a mother to a cute as a button baby boy named Hershel Rhee but parenthood hasn’t slowed her down any: in the trailers, it would seem Hilltop is now HQ and judging by a tense conversation between Maggie and Rick she still has designs on overthrowing him.

Could a true switch of power between Maggie and Rick be on the horizon? Will she exact revenge on Negan for reducing Glenn’s head to ragú before her time is through? Will the scheming Gregory have anything to do with her exit? It’s a lot to fit into just six episodes but whatever happens Maggie is such a long-running character that she’s bound to go out with a bang.
