The Walking Dead Season 9: 3 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Who Are You Now?'
2. Judith & Negan's Bizarre Relationship
If there was ever a reason to groan about The Walking Dead, it's most certainly in relation to the writers' inability to let Negan die. The antagonist - and his dreadful pantomime-esque characterisation - was largely responsible for the near downfall of the show during its seventh and eighth seasons so, regardless of what happens to the character in the comics, the fact that he's still on the show is puzzling to say the least, and most definitely has to do with the showrunners not wanting to lose the talent that is Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Of course, there's always the chance that the show will surprise us regarding the Negan character, and that further development of said character might take place. There does appear to be some suggestion of this during his brief scenes in Who Are You Now? but the odd relationship he's struck up with Judith distracts us from it.
After everything the Alexandrians went through under Negan's tyrannical reign, surely they would pull out all the stops to protect Judith from him? Asking us to believe that the young girl is starting to get along with the most vile human being in the world is really pushing the envelope.
