The Walking Dead Season 9: 3 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Who Are You Now?'

1. Judith's Characterisation

The Walking Dead Judith Grimes
AMC

While we're on the topic of Judith, it's worth mentioning that her characterisation is a little problematic. It's great to see her carrying on the Grimes mantle now that Rick is gone (that very mantle that Carl was meant to assume before Scott Gimple oversaw one of the worst creative decisions ever made), but the character is coming across as nothing more than a plot device designed to further the narrative. She's aged way beyond her years in the worst way possible, and has the answers to pretty much every conundrum the adults are confronted with, which is seriously diluting her importance. Furthermore, she's already smarter than Carl, which is a little frustrating.

There is a lot of potential with the Judith character, and Cailey Fleming is a wonderful actress, so let's hope the writers tone down her street-smart attitude and make Judith more of a believable adolescent.
