The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Review - 5 Ups & 5 Downs From "Become"

4. Up: Rick & Michonne Are Back On Form

The Ones Who Live
AMC

Aside from seeing Gabriel again, one of the better aspects of "Become" is seeing Rick and Michonne back in action, on the same wavelength and all the more powerful for it.

There's a scene early on, for example, where the couple, all cleaned up and back wearing civilian clothes reminiscent of their old attire, come across a new group of survivors, who take some of their supplies and seem intent on robbing them before Richonne easily disarm them.

This scene is almost funny, watching how effortlessly they fight back, working in tandem wordlessly, and it's also welcome. Last week saw them struggling to be as one, as they used to be, but now they're back to their old tricks. One-off villains like this don't stand a chance.

Also, though the discussions become repetitious and offer little new to the show's story, it is kinda lovely to hear Rick and Michonne talk about their kids, especially when Rick's blushing over RJ calling him "the brave man," secretly finding jewellery for his wife, and Michonne keeps saying things about their children like, "They're us." Awwww.
