Talitha Cumi - X-Files
Fox

Season finales were always a big deal in The X-Files and the writers certainly knew how to rise to the occasion. The stakes would always be raised to dizzying new heights and the show's penchant for heart-stopping cliffhangers meant that fans would always be left on tenterhooks waiting for the next season to air.

Talitha Cumi is an episode that serves as a brilliant summation of everything that has come before in the story, but also serves as a means of pushing the show's main arc forward in exciting new ways.

Upon meeting a man who is capable of inhuman acts such as shapeshifting and miraculous healing, Mulder and Scully find themselves once again in the firing line as the powers above them begin to close in. Although things become highly person for Mulder when he learns of his mother's impending death, forcing him into a situation where he's on the cusp of discovering the true he's fought so valiantly to unearth but needing to put his personal life before it.

It's an episode that manages to successfully build tension without resorting to large scale action, instead bringing things down to a more personal level for both heroes and villains alike.
