The X-Files: 10 Best Mythology Episodes
5. Colony/End Game
NOTE: Can this be changed to Colony/End Game, cheers!
Very much the centre-piece of the show's second season, this two-parter is home to some of the most jaw-dropping moments in the show's history, which include the sudden re-appearance of Mulder's long-lost sister Samantha, the sudden revelation that she's in fact a human-alien hybrid cloned from a DNA sample and of course, the introduction of the Alien Bounty Hunter who alongside the Cigarette Smoking Man is one of the show's most recognisable and downright evil villains.
Shocking moments aside, these two episodes also saw quite the upward trajectory in terms of the show's budget and scale, with plenty of intense action scenes and globe-trotting set-pieces that would become far more commonplace as the show progressed. In spite of its humble beginnings as a sci-fi horror curio, it was episodes like Colony and End Game that proved to the world that The X-Files was a real force within the realms of television, one that would become something of a template for everything that would follow.
Best enjoyed in a back-to-back viewing, everything about these two episodes is a prime example of what The X-Files was capable of when firing on all cylinders.
