11. Peep Show €“ Seasonal Beatings (Channel 4, 2010)

In Peep Show€™s first and much deserved Christmas episode, a cash-strapped Mark finds himself hosting Christmas for his sister, belligerent father, and sex-obsessed mother. A situation that€™s exacerbated by the arrival of his girlfriend Dobby and crack addict Super Hans. What can I say apart from that it€™s Peep Show mixed with Christmas. One of the best combinations since some genius had the idea to wrap sausages in bacon. It tackles the minutiae of Christmas really well and adds a whole new dynamic to Jez and Mark€™s personalities as Jez attempts to have a decent Christmas, even to the extent of resisting sex with Mark€™s sister so as not to ruin the festive atmosphere, and Mark€™s neuroses are brought to the forefront by the stress of Christmas and the presence of his family. All of this leads to some screamingly funny voice-overs and, surprisingly, leads to an episode that doesn€™t end in total humiliation for Mark or Jez. Best Moment: It€™s more the one-liners that make this episode so good but the Christmas dinner scene is full of good material, culminating in Mark finally standing up to his father. Merry Christ-Mark everyone.
