True Detective Season 2: Everything We Know So Far
8. Who'll Be Directing It
Cary Fukunaga, who helmed all eight episodes of the first season, will not be returning to the directors chair this time around, although he is on board as an executive producer. In his absence, Justin Lin has stepped up to direct the first two episodes. Hes best known for his action work, having rejuvenated the Fast & Furious franchise, while hes also set to direct next years Star Trek Beyond. He does have TV experience as well though, having been behind the camera on three episodes of Community, including the brilliant first paintball episode Modern Warfare. However, with a fair bit on his plate (that Star Trek sequel might just be taking up a bit of his time), this season wont be directed by just one man. Little-known Swedish director Janus Metz Pedersen is said to be directing the third episode, while IMDB also lists Miguel Sapochnik (who has directed two episodes of Game of Thrones' current season) and The Wire and The Sopranos alumnus David Attias as having directed episodes, meaning the show should be in hands more than comfortable in this area.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
