7. Who'll Be Writing It

Once again, the task writing of all eight episodes falls on the shoulders €“ or hands €“ of just one man, the show€™s creator Nic Pizzolatto. In fairness, he did an alright (alright alright) job first time round. He actually started out as a fiction writer, with a few short stories and a novel to his name, and True Detective was initially conceived as a novel €“ something that comes across in its eight-episode run €“ while he also wrote a couple of episodes of The Killing. The themes explored in the show, the darkness and dubious morals, the read-too-much-into-it lines of dialogue, all of it stems from Pizzolatto, and will do again for season 2. He€™s also spoken of writing for his actors, which worked brilliantly for McConaughey and Harrelson, and should come in handy for this lot€
