3. Who Else Has Been Trapped In The Red Room?
Those who saw the International version of the pilot were treated to a bizarre coda that took place in the Red Room twenty-five years in the future, with an aged Dale Cooper in congress with the spirit of Laura Palmer and the Man from Another World. At series end, it was the Red Room where Cooper was possessed by BOB, and we are led to believe that Agent Coopers soul is marooned there with the doppelganger of Laura Palmer. But this Black Lodge double tells us she is not Laura Palmer, though sometimes arms bend back, a reference to Laura being restrained. If she is not Laura Palmer, then who is she and what is her purpose? In the film Fire Walk With Me, Agents Chester Desmond and Phillip Jeffries also vanish into the confines of the Red Room and never make their exit. Yet we never see them (or anyone else for that matter) in Coopers company when he is trapped there. Who else has inhabited the Red Room and what stories do they have to tell?
