Vikings: 8 Most Insane Fan Theories
1. Floki Is Secretly A God?
'Floki, like Loki? The god.' 'Yes, only different.' 'How is he different?' 'He's not a god.'.
This was the dialogue between Bjorn and Ragnar that first introduced the fan-favourite Floki, and it did a great job of establishing a direct connection between him and the gods. Still, according to this wild theory, Ragnar's conclusion that he is 'not a god' might not ring true.
Floki always had the best relationship with the all father and his sons, as his character was heavily antiquated with the Norse religion. Still, this theory takes it one step further and suggests that he genuinely was Loki, the god of mischief, deliberately hiding in plain sight.
There isn't a tonne of evidence to support this idea, but some very questionable aspects of Floki's character suggest its validity. For example, the fact that Floki just so happened to be a master ship-builder who was connected to an ambitious and determined man like Ragnar seems like a spot of divine intervention, as the Norse gods were known to do. Plus his chaotic and jokester personality was a perfect tie in to this mischievous son of Odin.
Both Bjorn himself - Alexander Ludwig - and the showrunner Michael Hirst seemed open to the theory, as they've both reported their fondness for the concept, proving that it might not be such an impossible idea.
