Voltron: Legendary Defender - 6 Things You Need To Know About Season 3

1. There's Plenty More Voltron To Come

An announcement at New York Toy Fair back in February revealed that Netflix was committed to airing seventy-eight episodes of the series. Season 1 ran for eleven episodes, Season 2 had thirteen, and Season 3 will also feature thirteen entries. If the series continues like this, we can expect it to run to around 6-7 seasons. This will provide ample opportunity for the writers to dive into multiple story arcs, expand on character histories, and explore the depth of this Voltron continuity.

The team's new alliance with the Blade Of Marmora will factor into Season 3 (they're showcased throughout the trailer), and Shiro's disappearance will have to be addressed before they can get back to properly defending the universe. They'll also have plenty of opportunity to meet of new civilizations, embark on new adventures, and thwart new villains. We could even see the return of some familiar-but-underutilized faces, like Rolo (voiced by Norman Reedus) and his accomplice Nyma.

There's also the Voltron: Legendary Defender comic book series, penned by the series' lead writers and detailing the events between seasons (along with less serious filler material that didn't justify a full episode). Volume 1, consisting of five issues, was released throughout the latter half of 2016. Volume 2 will likely debut later this year.
