Voltron: Legendary Defender - 6 Things You Need To Know About Season 3
2. Lotor Will Be A Primary Antagonist
Team Voltron may have delivered a critical blow to Zarkon at the end of Season 2, but the Galra Empire is by no means defeated. Zarkon is still on life-support following his devastating loss, and his son, Prince Lotor, has answered the summons of the witch Haggar.
In the trailer, he threatens the Voltron Force from aboard his ship and repels an attacker during an intense melee. This paints him as both a cunning strategist and an intense front-line combatant - a serious force for the Defenders Of The Universe to contend with.
With his father rendered comatose by Team Voltron, Lotor has more than enough motivation to hound them. As a relative unknown among the Galran commanders, he'll also have to prove himself as a worthy successor to the throne.
Due to his similar character traits and fighting style, he'll serve as a dark foil for Keith, representing what the Paladin may become should he succumb to the more insidious traits of his Galran heritage. He'll also play a counterpart to Allura, as their fathers were once bitter enemies.
