The Walking Dead: 15 Stupid Decisions Lori Grimes Would Be Proud Of

9. Rick Lets Andrew Go ("Sick")

As it turns out, Hershel's amputated leg was not the only complication that Rick and Co. would encounter down in the tombs, and they stumble upon a group of five surviving prisoners who had been trapped inside the kitchens. Three (soon to become two) seem harmless enough €“ jailed for "pharmaceuticals" and "B&E," according to one of them €“ but the armed Tomas and his baseball bat-wielding crony Andrew seem to have designs on the whole prison rather than merely the single block that Rick intends to allow them. Tomas goes out of his way to endanger Rick a few times, but Rick manages to keep his head until Tomas knocks him down and shoves a snarling Walker on top of him. Unfortunately for Tomas, Rick survives, and the room is cleared without anybody dying. "It was coming at me, bro," says Tomas nervously. "Shit happens," agrees Rick...then reels back and plants his machete right into Tomas' skull. Way to be, Rick! For his part, Andrew turns around and runs into the bowels of the prison. Rick chases after him, only stopping when Andrew flees himself into an overrun €“ and fenced-in €“ area of the yard. Andrew screams and tries to run back to the prison, but Rick proves that he has not seen enough Bond films as he shuts the gate, locks it, and walks away without witnessing Andrew's fate. When this episode aired, viewers were either thrilled or troubled by Rick's ruthlessness. When "Killer Within" aired two weeks later, however, many had to take a break from their sobbing to realize just how monumentally a bad decision Rick had made by leaving Andrew to die alone.
