The Walking Dead: 15 Stupid Decisions Lori Grimes Would Be Proud Of

10. Hershel Goes Into The Tombs ("Seed")

In the Season 3 premiere, it's a rare victory for Rick and Co. when they successfully clear a prison yard of Walkers. After spending months on the run and with the pregnant Lori due to give birth any day, the safe haven of the prison was the biggest break that they'd had since discovering the farm. Still, even having secured a cell block for themselves, they need to push further in to locate the infirmary. So, in order to most safely navigate the dark maze of the lower prison, the group assembles a crack team consisting of leader Rick, killing-machine Daryl, quick Glenn, strong T-Dog, resourceful Maggie...and the only person with legitimate medical training who also happened to be an elderly man with limited fighting experience. Good plan. In all fairness to Hershel, none of the others seemed to realize that it was a terrible idea for him to join the expedition either, and he was the person most able to identify what they would need from the infirmary to prepare for Lori's upcoming delivery. Nevertheless, it never seems to occur to any of the survivors to just take everything and run, and it wasn't as though Lori was actually in labor. Hershel absolutely should not have been down in the corpse-strewn tunnels. I'm not saying that poor kindly Hershel deserved to have his leg bitten by a Walker and then amputated by a hatchet, but...well, he sort of had it coming.
