The Walking Dead 5.7 Review - 5 Talking Points From "Crossed"
2. The Ambush
The plan to capture some of the Grady cops involved Noah being used as bait by firing a gun to get their attention. When two officers respond and handcuff Noah to take back to Grady, up pop Rick, Daryl, Sasha and Tyreese from hiding to capture them instead. Officer Shepherd and Sgt. Lamson are the two who respond, and right away we have it drilled over our head that Lamson is "one of the good ones" and he seems to back that up with his level-headed demeanor. So, of course, he's the one we have to watch out for. A brief attempt to rescue them by another cop leads to a firefight that only results in Rick and company gaining an additional hostage, and, after securing the prisoners and leaving Lamson with Sasha, the delegation takes off for Grady to negotiate his exchange. Here's the question: why does Dawn and the people at the hospital want Noah back to begin with? Their entire way of thinking makes no sense. He didn't want to be there, he's no longer in need of medical help and if he's gone he isn't a waste of resources. So if you're truly not evil like you claim, why not let the kid go?
