10. Hershel Stands Up To A Crazy Shane

In Triggerfinger (S2 E09), after relapsing at a bar in town, Hershel returns to the farm with Rick and Glenn. However, they bring some company with them. Randall, a member of a group that engages them in a shoot-out at the bar, impales his leg on a fence. After pulling Randall off the fence, the group blindfolds him and brings him back to the farm. Its already insane to tear this guy off a fence to save his life, but the real badass act comes while Hershel inspects Randalls injury at the farm. Shane, with shaved head and crazy eyes, argues that its a terrible idea to spare Randalls life. Its a direct challenge to Hershels authority on the farm. With the barn incident fresh in his mind, Hershel knows Shane is inches from going off the deep-end, ready to act without consideration. But this crazy tough guy doesn't threaten Hershel; Hershel finally reveals a temper, raising his voice and telling Shane to keep his mouth shut if he wants to stay. If he had a microphone in hand, hed probably have just dropped it at his feet. Not only does Hershel have the aura of a badass, but this scene proves he can back it up.
