The Walking Dead: Hershel’s 11 Most Badass Acts

7. Hershel Walks Some Walkers

Hershel Walks Walkers1 In €˜Pretty Much Dead Already€™ (S2 E07), Hershel tells Rick flatly that if the group wants to stay on the farm, they have to treat walkers like people. Of course, what he means by this is attaching walkers to snare poles and leading them into the barn. You know, just like people. This leads to some stellar shots of Rick and Hershel snaring some walkers to bring back to the barn. Everyone else freaks out and backs up, but Hershel doesn't run from danger €“ he just tries to tame it. This is an intense method to get Rick and the group to prove their worth. Rick€™s been asking new members of the prison community 'how many walkers have you killed,' but on Hershel€™s farm, the question is €œhow many walkers have you captured.€ It's an altogehter more dangerous pursuit, and one that's far more likely to get you bitten if you don't do it properly. As it is, Hershel seems to have perfected the method. As I said before, Michonne is probably one of the leading contenders for biggest badass on The Walking Dead. She€™s introduced to the series leading two walkers by a leash; that screams badass. But let's be honest, Hershel was walking zombies before it was cool. With his carefully fluffed beard and overall suspenders, Hershel is a hipster when it comes to being a badass in the zombie apocalypse. And he doesn't even remove the jaws or nails from the walkers; Hershel makes Michonne look as tame as her pet zombies.
