The Walking Dead: Hershel’s 11 Most Badass Acts

5. Hershel Saves Glenn's Life

Hershel Glenn In 'Triggerfinger' (S2 E09), Hershel is caught in a shoot out alongside Rick and Glenn. After a group corners them in the bar, Rick provides cover fire while Glenn and Hershel try to sneak out the back door. Glenn exits first, and he is nearly shot by an attacker. Luckily, Hershel €“ who it must be pointed out has has been adamantly opposed to guns up to this point €“ shoots the attacker in the chest. After slamming back a couple of drinks beforehand, Hershel's channeling his inner John Wayne to make this shot. Or maybe he was aiming at the man who's been sleeping with his daughter. Either way, Hershel goes from farmer to cowboy in the flash of a bullet. As I mentioned before, Hershel's ability to adapt sets him apart from the rest of the group. Similar to pulling the bullet out of Carl without the correct experience, Hershel fires a gun when he knows he has to. Offer the guy a challenge and he's likely willing to accept. Heck, he's even likely to succeed. The man has never heard the word "can't," and even in the direst of circumstances, Hershel pushes forward. He's more determined than the walkers, and they keep on trying even after they're long dead.
