The Walking Dead Season 5: 10 Things We Learned From The New Trailer
10. No More Farmer Rick
The first half of the fourth season presented Rick Grimes as we'd never seen him. In a far cry from his aggressive attitude in Season 3, Season 4 Rick was doing his best to avoid conflict with the living and dead alike, abandoning his role as a leader to focus on his baby daughter and trigger-happy teenager. Also: farming. The adjusted Rick was rather uncomfortable for viewers. Some agreed with Daryl's stance that Rick deserved time off. Others were more inclined to agree with Carol's assertion that Rick couldn't be just a farmer. Many even thought that Hershel's gentle attempts to ease Rick back into the action were the way to go. Overall, Rick's outlook on life at the prison was one of the many aspects of early Season 4 that divided fans everywhere. What reunited fans, however, was watching Rick click back into the clear-eyed ruthlessness that made him so electrifying to watch in the past. It's unfortunate that it took the brutal assault of Carl to send Rick into berserker mode, but there were no holds barred once he did. This attitude may just be what the group needs to get out of Terminus alive, and the trailer indicates that feral Rick isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Since the Termites clearly don't know him well enough to see the need to fit a Hannibal Lecter mask on him and back away slowly when he gets a certain gleam in his eye, we can only deduce that Rick will be out of captivity and back on the road pretty early in the season.
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
