Westworld Season 2: 12 Stupid Blunders That Completely Ruined It
5. Maeve's Story Still Doesn't Feel Right
Maeve is a great character and Thandie Newton has done an amazing job on Westworld, but she hasn't been served well in terms of story. After spending season one hanging out with those wretched technicians, she spends this season searching for her daughter from a previous narrative. This plot-line isn't very interesting and also built up to an unsatisfying conclusion.
Maeve's journey to find her daughter dragged on for ages and the eventual reunion wasn't nearly as touching as it should've been. Maeve's sacrifice for her daughter carried no weight and just felt outrageous, given that she's such a great character and killing her off in such a meaningless manner could potentially ruin the show if she doesn't come back.
The parts set in Shogun World were good, but other than that Maeve's story-line simply didn't work, especially since it revolved around a random kid character that neither we nor Maeve really knew.
