Westworld Season 2: 12 Stupid Blunders That Completely Ruined It
6. The Man In Black Still Makes No Sense
Season 2 reveals more about William, but it only ruins a once-intriguing character further.
The twists about his wife's death are predictable, the post-credits scene in season two was pointless and him killing his own daughter was woefully misjudged. In terms of the overarching plot-line, it's once again just him playing some long drawn-out game all season.
The plot developments in this season certainly didn't help, but in fairness the initial reason of his descent into corruption, first shown in the season one finale, had already ruined the character.
It is ironic that the show used a quote from Romeo and Juliet ("These violent delights have violent ends") since he reminds you of both Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet are complete idiots who kill themselves over someone they met a week ago and the Man in Black is no different. He goes crazy purely because some robot he hung out with for a little while 30 years ago never remembered him.
This staggeringly immature behaviour makes it impossible to care for William now, despite Ed Harris' sublime performance.
