The Character: Someone should probably have words with the writers of American Dad and Family Guy, and ask them if they have something to get off their chests about their High School Principals.
For what seemed like a long time in the show, Principal Shepherd was an integral school presence for Meg and Chris at James Woods High. But over the years the nuances of the character have come out, and as such a sleazier, more disturbed figure has arisen. Not too dissimilar to Principal Lewis in American Dad, this is a character who absolutely should not be allowed around children.
The Actor: You'd be forgiven for calling Gary Cole "one of those!" actors. His "That Guy!" persona isn't an insult but a declaration on his career.
Gary Cole's career has grown and expanded across almost five decades, with roles in film such as In The Line Of Fire, The Brady Bunch films, The Gift, Dodgeball, One Hour Photo, Pineapple Express and Blockers. His suave voice isn't just exclusive to Family Guy though, with voice work in animated series such as F is for Family, Archer and even the Hitman games.
