X-Men ’97: 10 Things We Want To See
9. Incorporate Iconic Marvel Characters Outside The X-Men
Crossovers have always been a staple in Marvel, which is why it's no surprise it was incorporated into many Marvel shows. In the Fantastic Four, Thing battled the Incredible Hulk. In Iron Man, Tony Stark allied with Spider-Woman and Hawkeye. In Spider-Man, the Wall-crawler teamed up with pretty much everyone.
However, the studio over X-Men was incredibly strict with crossovers. As a result, heroes like Doctor Strange, Thor or Ghost Rider never appeared (save for split-second cameos). In a way, it was a relief that the X-Men cartoon didn't shove in every Avenger under the sun for the sake of fan service. On the other hand, it would be nice to acknowledge other superheroes exist in this world.
During the show's original run, it's understandable why incorporating other iconic characters posed an issue since all the Marvel properties were owned by different companies. But now that Disney is in charge of all these characters, there shouldn't be an issue with incorporating anyone they want. It would be awesome to see the X-Men teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy, butting heads with S.H.I.E.L.D. or battling Doctor Doom or Thanos.
