Doctor Who: Every Series 3 Episode Ranked From Worst To Best
1. Blink
It really is a testament to the perfect pacing and clever writing of Blink that an episode so light on the show's leading pairing manages to not only top this list but remains the highest-rated episode of the show on IMDB.
Stepping into an established show and taking on an unexpected lead role must be daunting but Carey Mulligan’s Sally Sparrow takes to her character with such unbelievable confidence. There’s a reason that many fans often decry that we never got to see her again, despite her story being neatly wrapped up in Blink. She was just that good.
Instead of necessarily focusing on The Doctor, he acts as a guide to Sally Sparrow and Larry Nightingale's adventure that involves disappearing friends, DVD Easter Eggs, and the origin of the phrase "timey wimey". With the powerful mind of the Doctor not here to save us, it allows the iconic, creepy Weeping Angels to really chill us to our bones.
There could be some concern going back into Blink that it’s lost some shine due to the Angels becoming more common and in theory exposed enemies in later seasons but they are done to perfection here. Intriguing and scary, they remain in the corner of your eye for the whole proceedings; on the periphery of a story that is a truly thrilling character drama.
