1 Up & 6 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sept 30)

1. The Acclaimed’s First Title Defence

The Acclaimed

At least there was one major positive from this week's episode: The Acclaimed.

Rankings be damned, because this was a fine three-way opener and a logical first step for Max Caster and Anthony Bowens as AEW Tag Champs. The Acclaimed were the legit stars of the three teams on offer here, but that should give hope to other squads like Private Party.

Caster and Bowens weren't always this over, so there's hope yet elsewhere in the division. Fans in Philly were super-into everything the champions did. The loud chorus of, "Oooooooh scissor me, daaaaaddy!" right at the top of the match proves it. These boys are flying, man.

The actual match was a fun ride through power-based offence from The Butcher & The Blade, as well as some nice flying from Private Party; the latter duo probably needs to edit out at least 30% of their spots, but they still added to the bout.

Thank God it was on the card.
