10 Scapegoats For RUBBISH WWE Ideas

1. JR Blamed For “Razor Ramon” & “Diesel”

This is something Jim Ross discussed when deep-diving on Kane during an episode of his 'Grilling JR' pod. The iconic announcer told co-host Conrad Thompson he was more-than-happy to do his best with a heel turn in 1996, and Jim didn't even mind being a makeweight for the reintroduction of Diesel and Razor Ramon.

There was just one problem: Kevin Nash and Scott Hall had fled to WCW, so they wouldn't be reprising those roles. No, Glenn Jacobs and Rick Bognar would become "Diesel" and "Razor" respectively. To cover their arses, the WWF had Ross claim to make the deal with those guys himself.

It was a bait and switch tactic, one that didn't pan out and left a bad taste in fan mouths. JR chuckled on his podcast when recalling how he became the on-screen scapegoat. Then-authority figure Gorilla Monsoon directly blamed Jim for hoodwinking the fans on TV.

Booking other wrestlers to cosplay two of your biggest gimmicks was a bad idea from the start.
