10 Abandoned Wrestling Gimmicks That Would Have Been Awesome
4. Owen Hart As The Game
It's unfortunate that Owen Hart's final run with the WWE found him running around in a mask and cape, demanding to be called The Blue Blazer.
It's not that it was a horrible gimmick - it was meant to be silly and showcase more of Owen's humorous side while also paying homage to his first go-round with the company in the late 80s - it's just not a fitting way for someone with his talent to go out.
But had the tragic events of Over the Edge not occurred, Owen was being primed for a much more intense gimmick, one worthy of his in-ring abilities and talent on the microphone. It seems Owen was set to transform himself into "The Game".
Yes, the very same Game gimmick that permanently boosted Triple H out of the mid-card and into our lives with rambling, long-winded promos that you have to believe would have been one thousand times better had they been written and delivered by Owen Hart.
Owen would have told the world that he wasn't just "the best in the game" - perhaps a subtle dig at his on-again/off-again relationship with his brother, Bret - but that he "is the game".
We obviously don't know if the moniker and gimmick change would have turned Owen into the superstar it made Triple H, but it would have been nice to see it play out anyway.
