10 AEW Nightmares That Could Come True In 2023
8. Tony Khan Adds More PPVs
Credit where credit is due: AEW's supershows are long, but they represent excellent value for money on a traditional pay-per-view purchase model and routinely delight in-ring. The top matches, in particular, are often stunning examples of everything right with wrestling, and the fact they don't happen every single month is a major plus.
Could that change?
Money talks, and All Elite is a business designed to creatively thrill customers with product and rake in cash by making them want more of that good stuff. There's always a chance this could trick Tony into thinking the promotion needs more PPVs on the annual calendar instead of endless free TV specials sandwiched in between the biggies.
AEW promoted five pay-per-views in 2022 (up from four apiece in 2020 and 2021). That's fine, because they're still spread out enough to make the wait worth it. Add another couple and things could get problematic though. In short, they shouldn't.
