10 AEW Originals Who Are Struggling In 2022
1. Sammy Guevara
“The Spanish God” recently scored a win over Eddie Kingston, albeit through post-match disqualification. Recently on Dynamite he wrestled Bryan Danielson, a living legend of the business. Many wrestlers would kill to be in such a privileged position, but for Sammy Guevara it weirdly represents a step backwards.
Established as one of the company's four pillars, Guevara got over huge with AEW fans, soaking up an elated crowd reaction at the finale of AEW’s second ever Stadium Stampede match. He felt like the right guy to take the TNT title from Miro.
Sadly his title run fell a little flat and despite a five star banger against Cody that served as a reboot, fans quickly soured on his antics with new flame Tay Conti. Rumours of bad blood backstage with fan favourite Edde Kingston didn’t help matters. After alienating the fanbase, Sammy Guevara finds himself back under the wing of Chris Jericho.
It’s tempting to say Guevara is right back where he started, but if anything, he’s worse off than he was in Jericho’s last stable. Guevara was the young talent poised to break out of The Inner Circle. In JAS he’s the guy who can eat a pin that the fans love to boo.
Daniel Garcia is very much the pushed project.
