10 All-Time Craziest WWE Match Stipulations

8. The Duchess Of Queensbury Rules Match

Us Brits, we drink a lot of tea, call 'soccer' football and eat chips rather than French fries. But I'm sure everyone in Britain, as well as America, would have shared good ol' William Regal's expression here the first time we laid eyes on the Duchess of Queensbury. A creation of Regal himself, there were a number of rules that become apparent while the match was taking place at Balcklash 2001. Chris Jericho was the unlucky opponent who was screwed out of a PPV win. Firstly, Jericho looked to be on the road to victory as he hit the 'Lionsault', but the match was revealed to be contested in rounds and the first had ended before Jericho got the win. Soon after, Regal was tapping in the centre of the ring but as a basic rule, submissions were made illegal. Something that turned out to be legal was chairs. Regal smashed one over Jericho's head causing an inevitable disqualification. However, the Duchess made the match no disqualification, leaving Regal to pick up an easy win upon the restart. Jericho got some sort of revenge as he applied 'The Walls' to 'her Duchessness'.
