10 Amazing Stats On Asuka’s Undefeated Streak

3. 523 Days

Asuka NXT
WWE

They said it once before but it bears repeating now - Asuka was the NXT Women's Champion for 523 days. It is, in any generation, an exceptional achievement.

Wrestling being predetermined has often been used as a stick to beat longevity reigns with, when it's actually arguably harder to hold on to gold in a fictional sport than a real one. A 'loss' is little more than the callous scribble of a booker's pencil or a fleeting thought of a frustrated promoter. The 'Empress Of Tomorrow' not giving anybody cause for concern over 18 months - in the modern age especially - is truly astonishing.

She stacks up well against some of the all-time greats too. Bruno Sammartino, Pedro Morales, Bob Backlund and Hulk Hogan all comfortably broke four figures in different times, but Diesel's 358, Randy Savage's 371, John Cena's 380 and CM Punk's 434 don't come close. Trish Stratus 448 day spell in the mid-2000s was legitimately impressive, but the fact that she survived an injury-related absence with the title spoke volumes about the division at large.

The title she treasured is arguably the most prestigious in the company today, in-part due to her legendary run. The belt has been carefully traded in its first five years, with each performer to hold it thus far going at least 100 days with the strap. Current titleholder Ember Moon will need to successfully defend the strap beyond the summer of 2019 to be in with chance of breaking Asuka's record.
