10 Amazing Wrestling Feuds With AWFUL Endings

7. Kento Miyahara Vs. Suwama (AJPW)

After several years of scarily declining business and a general lack of star power, All Japan found its new ace in the form of Kento Miyahara. Young, brash and technically skilled, Miyahara connected with audiences and ticket sales finally started moving in the right direction in 2016.

Miyahara's fourth Triple Crown reign saw him crush all challengers for an utterly insane 519 days and tie Toshiaki Kawada for most successful defences at 10. During last year's Dream Power Series, Miyahara defended against long-term nemesis, Suwama. A six-time champion, Suwama was a pseudo ace before Miyahara and many hoped this would be an official passing of the torch moment. Instead, Suwama absolutely obliterated Miyahara, taking the title and Miyahara's dream of setting a new 11-defence record.

While the result was a huge surprise, it was also counter-productive. Suwama's reign in the year since has proven unspectacular. His total destruction of Miyahara could've been a massive credibility booster for a newer star such as Jake Lee. Instead, the old guard won and nothing hugely exciting or fresh has happened since. A disappointing end to a long-running, dramatic rivalry.
