10 Anti-AEW Moves WWE Made Out Of Spite

4. Britt Baker Takes Over

Britt Baker was presented as a potential AEW women's division centrepiece from day one, having been unveiled as the company's first female signing not named Brandi Rhodes at the inaugural Jacksonville press conference in January 2019. Her real-life boyfriend, Adam Cole, ended up jumping ship from WWE to AEW in September 2021, but was NXT's franchise player in November 2019, when he lead The Undisputed Era into WarGames with Team Ciampa at that month's TakeOver event.

Knowing that Baker was at TakeOver, supporting her partner, WWE producers pinpointed her in the crowd. They cut to and honed in on her concerned reaction to one of the WarGamnes' match's bigger bumps, doing so in a nudge-nudge/wink-wink exercise in undercutting. This was despite informing Baker that because she was behind the announce table and the cage would get in the way, she wouldn't be seen on camera.

Triple H apologised to Baker afterwards, saying WWE "didn't mean for that to happen."

How does one accidentally cut to a wrestler from a rival promotion sitting in their crowd while her boyfriend takes a gnarly bump on the competition's show, exactly? Answers on a postcard, please.
