10 Atrocious WWE Matches That Were Unintentionally Funny
2. Brock Lesnar vs Goldberg
On an entirely different note, this mammoth encounter from Wrestlemania XX was supposed to be an all time, titanic clash of the behemoths. Both men had been tearing the WWE up on their respective brands for the previous year. It was Goldberg's one and only year in the WWE. On paper, this match seemed like an obvious choice and an easy decision to make. There was just two small caveats: 1) Wrestlemania XX was in New York City, in front of the smart, hardcore NYC crowd and 2) Every single member of the crowd knew both Lesnar and Goldberg were leaving the WWE after this match. What was previously an epic encounter thus became something of a comical farce. The crowd took a dump all over this match: singing the Goodbye song before the start of the match, cussing both guys, chanting for Steve Austin as the guest referee. It completely threw both Lesnar and Goldberg who proceeded to have a sloppy match that the crowd booed out of the building. The winner- Goldberg- was completely inconsequential. The crowd didn't care and wanted them both out of there. They popped when Austin stunned both guys after the match. The match was dreadful and the rebellious crowd hilarious. Considering the showdown it was supposed to be, it has to be one of the most anti-climatic matches in pro-wrestling history.
