Ah, the revived ECW. That was a nice thing while it lasted.

Off the back of One Night Stand 2005, WWE decided to bring back the land of extreme as a third weekly show alongside Raw and SmackDown.

Serving as a launching point for this new brand, One Night Stand 2006 was headlined by John Cena defending the WWE title against ECW icon Rob Van Dam. With a little help from Paul Heyman - and a lot of help from Edge - RVD beat Cena to a huge ovation from the hardcore faithful.

Two days later, Heyman awarded Van Dam with the ECW Title as well!

Just as he was riding high, Van Dam got caught... riding high.

A marijuana bust by police in Ohio meant that RVD was suspended by WWE for thirty days. Rather than let him wait this time out, the company booked him to lose both championships in the same week.

There was no coming back for Van Dam after this. All the good will that he had built up amongst fans had gone up in smoke, all because RVD had gone up in smoke.

That's the last pun, promise.
